Differences between Paper Bags and Reusable Bags
Differences
between Paper Bags and Reusable Bags
Paper
bags are biodegradable, reusable and recyclable. They can be less reused. Many paper
bags can withstand more pressure or weight than reusable bags. Unlike their plastic
counterparts, paper bags are not waterproof. The danger from bags made of paper
is not severe as the water and air make them decompose faster. Manufacturing a
paper bag takes about four times as much energy as it takes to produce a
plastic bag, plus the chemicals and fertilizers used in producing paper bags
create additional harm to the environment. Paper bags have a much higher global
warming potential because they are made from trees.
Reusable
bags are made from many variety materials. Reusable bags can be reused for many
times, but paper bags can be less used because they tear easily. The reusable
bags are lightweight, well tolerate humidity, strong, durable and easy to wipe
clean. They are not biodegradable. The biggest positive of reusable bags do not
fill the landfill sites and thus do not cause any pollution. Reusable
bags were seen as an eco-friendly alternative to paper bags as no trees needed
to be cut down to make paper. However, they are not biodegradable. When the
bags reach the end of their useful life, they are treated as waste and end up
in landfill.
Therefore,
reusable bag manufacturing causes less harm to the environment than the paper
bag manufacturing. The best way to carry your shopping and protect the environment
at the same time is to choose a reusable bag.
